Integrations & APIs

Integration scope may include insurer systems, CRM, accounting, payment providers, messaging, identity and document platforms. Availability depends on API access, partner approval, commercial terms, data permissions, technical feasibility and testing. No insurer integration is implied unless specifically confirmed.

Important: Confirm feature availability, service commitments, legal text and contact details before relying on or publishing this information. Product capability is not a claim of regulatory approval or insurer partnership.

Integration readiness checklist

Confirm the external provider supports the use case

Before promising an insurer or third-party connection, confirm API availability, commercial permission, credentials, sandbox access, documentation, rate limits and any certification or onboarding steps.

Map data and responsibilities

Document each field, its source, destination, format, validation rules, update frequency and error owner. Decide how duplicates, missing values, retries and rejected records will be handled.

Build security and observability in

Use appropriate authentication, least-privilege permissions, secure transport, secret rotation and auditable logs. Monitoring should identify failed requests, delays and data mismatches without exposing sensitive information.

Test with realistic scenarios

Test successful flows, invalid data, timeouts, duplicate submissions, partial failures and recovery. Keep test and production credentials separate, and agree a rollback or manual fallback before launch.

Expanded guide · Insurance technology

Integration planning, APIs and data exchange

  1. Build an integration plan before connecting systems

Insurance technology may need to exchange information with insurer portals, CRM platforms, accounting software, payment providers, messaging services, identity tools or analytics systems. Every connection should begin with a clear use case, a data owner, approved access, documented fields and an agreed failure-handling process. Availability of an insurer API or partner interface must be confirmed directly with the relevant provider.

  2. API design and data quality

Well-designed APIs use documented endpoints, authentication, validation, sensible rate limits and clear error responses. Data mapping should define identifiers, date formats, status values and rules for duplicate records. Integrations should be tested with representative scenarios, including missing fields, timeouts, retries, partial failures and reconciliation. Secrets must not be stored in public code or exposed in browser-side scripts.

  3. Secure and reliable data exchange

Integration governance should cover least-privilege access, encryption in transit, logging, monitoring, credential rotation and incident escalation. Only necessary information should be exchanged, and personal data should be handled under the applicable legal and contractual requirements. Where automated synchronisation is unavailable, a controlled import/export process may be an interim option, with reconciliation and accountability built in.

  4. What to confirm during discovery

Before an integration is committed, confirm whether the external provider supports it, whether sandbox access is available, who approves credentials, which fields may be exchanged, how often data should sync and who handles support. Implementation estimates should account for third-party dependencies, provider fees, certification processes and changes to external systems.
